President Donald Trump announced plans to close a historic public golf course for 15 months for renovations.

President Donald Trump announced plans to shutter the historic East Potomac Golf Course in Washington, D.C., for 15 months starting November 15 for redevelopment. Trump stated on social media that the project aims to turn the public venue into a world-class course capable of hosting major tournaments, claiming the current facility is dilapidated, overgrown, and unsafe.
The announcement comes despite an active legal challenge by the DC Preservation League and two golfers opposing the renovation. U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes previously ordered a temporary halt to redevelopment after the government conducted unannounced tree removals, with further hearings scheduled regarding a potential preliminary injunction.
