The Story in 60 Seconds

Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk reportedly intends to fight twice in 2027 before retiring, targeting bouts against Tyson Fury and David Benavidez. According to Mike Coppinger of The Ring, Team Usyk reassessed their plans after vacating all four heavyweight belts. Usyk aims to face Fury in a trilogy fight if Fury defeats Anthony Joshua, while undefeated multi-division champion Benavidez is also viewed as a viable opponent.

The new targets emerge after proposed plans for a farewell fight against Deontay Wilder were scrapped when Zuffa Boxing reportedly declined Usyk's financial terms. Usyk previously defeated Fury twice across 24 rounds in 2024. Benavidez, a reigning cruiserweight titleholder, would likely need to move up to the heavyweight division to face the Ukrainian boxer before Usyk officially concludes his professional career.
