The Story in 60 Seconds

Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft apologized on air and broadcasters cut audio after Max Verstappen swore in the Singapore Grand Prix cooldown room on Sunday. Following his race victory ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Verstappen was overheard using explicit language before walking onto the podium.

Antonelli also swore briefly before the broadcast feed was cut. The FIA previously reduced penalties for swearing in May 2025 following past controversies involving Verstappen, differentiating between non-controlled and controlled environments. To date, no Formula 1 driver has received a penalty for swearing in the post-race cooldown room.
