DALLAS — Santi Aldama had a good practice Sunday, but Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May was not ready to say whether the forward will play in Wednesday’s season opener against the Houston Rockets.
Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May stated he is unsure if forward Santi Aldama will play in Wednesday's season opener against the Houston Rockets. Aldama missed all four preseason games while continuing to recover from right knee arthroscopic surgery performed on March 17. Although he had a good practice on Sunday, May noted that a final decision on his availability has not yet been made.
Dallas acquired Aldama in a six-team trade on July 8 following five seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavericks face frontcourt depth issues, with Dereck Lively II and Moussa Cissé also dealing with injuries, while rookie Sergio de Larrea continues to rely on Aldama's mentorship from the bench.
