The Hornets’ Brandon Miller is considered the most likely player to receive a rookie scale extension before today’s deadline, but the odds are much longer for Magic guard Anthony Black, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports in his latest…

Marc Stein reports that the Orlando Magic are unlikely to reach a rookie scale extension with guard Anthony Black prior to the deadline. While the Magic have no intention of trading the 22-year-old, the team faces financial constraints and is expected to address his contract status when he becomes a restricted free agent next summer.
Orlando's payroll already includes significant financial commitments to Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and Desmond Bane. Elsewhere across the league, Thunder guard Cason Wallace secured a five-year, $139 million extension, joining five other players from the 2023 draft class who have signed rookie scale extensions.
