The Detroit Tigers are being linked to a trade involving a former Cy Young Award winner to help boost their starting rotation.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller projects the Detroit Tigers will target Texas Rangers veteran ace Jacob deGrom via trade this winter. After finishing with a losing record in 2026 following the departure of Tarik Skubal, Detroit is viewed as an ideal landing spot to pursue the two-time Cy Young Award winner to headline its rotation.
The 38-year-old pitcher is entering the final guaranteed season of his five-year, $185 million contract, carrying a $37 million salary for 2027 and a club option for 2028. Christopher Moore notes that Texas may consider shedding salary via trade after missing the postseason, while Detroit possesses payroll flexibility.
