The New York Rangers signed veteran center Luke Glendening to a PTO. We break down his elite 55%+ faceoff win rate, sneaky 92nd-percentile speed, and why he helps relieve Mika Zibanejad and J.T. Miller on the penalty kill.

The New York Rangers have signed 37-year-old center Luke Glendening to a professional tryout agreement to address their forward depth. The move follows recent offensive struggles, including shutout and blowout losses, alongside an ongoing absence from injured forward Joe Veleno. Glendening would require an official NHL contract before appearing in any regular-season games for the club.
Justin Bonhard of Blue Line Station argues that Glendening offers crucial insurance in faceoffs and on the penalty kill. Adding the veteran forward would also relieve top stars Mika Zibanejad and J.T. Miller from heavy short-handed defensive workloads.
