It sounds like Mayfield could attempt to return to the lineup when the Buccaneers play at the 3-2 Carolina Panthers on Oct. 25.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that starting quarterback Baker Mayfield is scheduled to return to practice on Wednesday. Mayfield has been sidelined since suffering a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand in Week 3, and he could attempt to play against the Carolina Panthers on October 25.
Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels stepped in as the temporary starter, but he threw two interceptions and took five sacks during a 26-19 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Bowles stated the team will evaluate Mayfield during practice before naming a starting quarterback.
