Baltimore's new General Manager, Jared Banner, brings a wealth of player development experience to his new role and years working under some of the best GMs in the game.

The Baltimore Orioles have hired Chicago Cubs Assistant General Manager Jared Banner as their new General Manager. The 41-year-old fills the vacancy created when Mike Elias was promoted to President of Baseball Operations. Writer Brian Burrows argues that Banner's extensive background in player development makes him an ideal fit for Baltimore's young roster and top-ranked farm system.
Banner brings nearly two decades of executive experience, having worked with the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and Chicago Cubs. Burrows notes that Banner has earned three World Series rings while working under prominent executives including Theo Epstein, Dave Dombrowski, Ben Cherington, and Jed Hoyer.
