At least three teams remain engaged in trade talks for Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck as his team-issued suspension nears its end, ESPN reported Monday. The 33-year-old was suspended without pay after failing to report to training camp following an offseason trade request. While a permanent deal is not guaranteed before his suspension expires on Friday, Oct. 23, the Jets are expected to pay him while keeping him away from the team if he is not moved.
Hellebuyck has lost nearly $800,000 in salary while skating independently in Michigan during the dispute. The three-time Vezina Trophy winner holds a full no-movement clause on his seven-year, $59.5 million contract, granting him full control over any potential trade destination.
