The Story in 60 Seconds

The Carolina Hurricanes have officially placed winger Taylor Hall on injured reserve to open up a roster spot. The 34-year-old sustained an upper-body injury during a game against the Washington Capitals and is currently considered week-to-week by head coach Rod Brind'Amour. Carolina did not make an immediate recall, leaving the active roster at 22 players.

Hall had recorded three goals and two assists in eight games this season prior to his injury. With Mark Jankowski also being evaluated for an injury suffered against Winnipeg, the Hurricanes are down to 12 healthy forwards, potentially opening a spot for a recall from AHL Chicago.
