LeBron James Criticized For Old Dalton Knecht Lakers Quote

LeBron James is facing criticism after past comments praising Dalton Knecht resurfaced following the guard's release by the Los Angeles Lakers. James had previously claimed that the 16 teams passing on Knecht in the 2024 NBA Draft made a major mistake. However, the Lakers waived the former 17th overall pick to meet NBA roster size limits after his perimeter shooting failed to develop.

Writer Joey Haverford notes that head coach JJ Redick lost confidence in Knecht, while the Lakers opted to retain young guards Bronny James and Jaden Hardy. The article compares James' endorsement of Knecht to his past failed backing of Shabazz Napier, pointing out that Knecht never recovered after a previously voided trade to the Charlotte Hornets.
