The Phoenix Suns' point guard depth is being exposed in preseason, and it doesn't help that Ja Morant looks rejuvenated with a Western Conference rival.

Writer Ben Leibowitz argues that the Phoenix Suns may regret failing to pursue point guard Ja Morant, who was acquired by the Portland Trail Blazers from the Memphis Grizzlies. While Phoenix traded Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale, and an unprotected first-round pick to Charlotte for Miles Bridges, Portland acquired Morant for Jerami Grant, Kris Murray, and cash considerations.
Leibowitz points out that the Suns currently face backcourt depth issues behind Collin Gillespie, with backup Jamaree Bouyea posting a -52 plus/minus across five preseason games. In contrast, Morant displayed strong form for Portland, scoring 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting during an October 16 preseason game against the Golden State Warriors.
