The Story in 60 Seconds

Gaslamp Ball writer Lincoln Zdunich evaluates San Diego Padres reliever Jason Adam's 2026 campaign, assigning him a B- grade. Adam recorded a 2.62 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a .233 opponent batting average across 34 1/3 innings during an injury-shortened season. Zdunich notes that the lower grade is primarily due to Adam missing nearly three months down the stretch because of a right shoulder strain.

Adam surrendered five home runs in half as many innings as his 2024 season, which Zdunich attributes to visible struggles with hard contact prior to rehab. Set to become a free agent, the right-hander is expected to command a strong market after maintaining five consecutive sub-3.00 ERA seasons, though Zdunich considers a departure from San Diego likely.
