Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Gavin McKenna praised San Jose Sharks captain Macklin Celebrini, describing him as "just a machine" after spending a week training together over the summer in Vancouver. The intense offseason preparation at Scotia Barn in Burnaby included nearly 17 hours of on-ice skating, demanding field workouts, and hiking the Grouse Grind ahead of their first NHL matchup against each other on Monday.

McKenna, selected first overall by Toronto, noted that witnessing Celebrini's professional habits, physical care, and relentless competitiveness provided valuable insight into how the Sharks forward achieved a 115-point campaign last season. Celebrini similarly commended McKenna's on-ice skill and expressed appreciation for the time they spent bonding during the demanding training sessions.
