Had the two sides not agreed to a deal by Monday, the soon-to-be 24-year-old would have been a restricted free agent going into next offseason.

Brandon Miller agreed to a five-year, $209 million rookie contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. The deal was finalized just minutes ahead of the 6 p.m. deadline for players from the 2023 NBA Draft class, preventing Miller from entering restricted free agency next offseason.
Miller is coming off a breakout 2025-26 season where he averaged 20.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, helping Charlotte reach the play-in round. He is expected to take on a larger scoring role this season following offseason trades that sent LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves and Miles Bridges to the Suns.
