Lennart Mertens thought he was stuck in the Belgian lower leagues until Reedijk lead Beveran to an unstoppable promotion campaign

Former Beveren striker Lennart Mertens has urged Hibernian supporters to remain patient with new manager Marink Reedijk despite a difficult start at Easter Road. Hibs have slumped to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table after losing Reedijk's first two matches in charge, including a 2-1 defeat against Falkirk on Saturday, bringing their tally to six losses in nine league matches.
Mertens previously played under Reedijk at Beveren, where the Dutch manager guided the club to promotion and the Challenger Pro League title. Mertens praised Reedijk's man-management and high-pressing tactical philosophy, insisting the manager can turn Hibs into an effective, winning team if given enough time to implement his methods.
