Lakers newsletter: It’s showtime: Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves lead Lakers into new era

Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are positioned as the primary leaders guiding the Los Angeles Lakers into a new era ahead of the upcoming NBA season. Despite significant offseason turnover featuring nine new players and a pending ownership change, the team is relying on the established chemistry between Doncic and Reaves, who posted a 30-11 record together last season.

Reaves signed the richest contract ever for an undrafted player this offseason, while Doncic stated that the team's explicit goal remains competing for an NBA championship. Meanwhile, an NBA.com annual survey of league general managers revealed tempered outside expectations, placing the Lakers sixth in the Western Conference voting points.
