Undefeated WBO light welterweight champion Shakur Stevenson has secured his release from Dana White's Zuffa Boxing without ever fighting under the promotion. Stevenson announced on his YouTube channel that he formally requested to be released after spending eight weeks in training camp for fights that never materialized. The promotion granted his request over the weekend, making the 25-0 fighter an official free agent barely 100 days after signing a multi-fight deal.
Moving forward, Stevenson revealed plans to launch his own promotional company and collaborate with other promoters to secure major bouts. The 29-year-old four-division champion aims to defend his 140-pound title or compete at 135 pounds before eventually making a move up to the welterweight division within the next two years.
