The men’s team remain some way short of their all-time high of 20th, achieved in September 2017…

Northern Ireland's men's national team has risen six places in the latest FIFA world rankings following an unbeaten four-match run in the UEFA Nations League. Michael O'Neill's side gathered eight points across the international window, which included a 3-0 away win over Ukraine and a 1-0 victory against Georgia. The successful run leaves Northern Ireland leading Group B2.
The improvement follows a ranking of 72nd in September 2025, though the team remains behind their all-time peak of 20th achieved in September 2017. Northern Ireland will conclude group play in November with matches against Ukraine and Hungary, while the women's national team remains ranked 45th in the world.
