JR Motorsports has announced that 16-year-old development driver Tristan McKee will join the team to drive the No. 9 Chevrolet. McKee will compete on a partial schedule starting August 13, 2027, at Bristol Motor Speedway and continue part-time through 2028. Under the multi-year agreement, McKee is scheduled to transition to a full-time ride with JR Motorsports in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2029.
McKee currently serves as a development driver for Spire Motorsports, where he is slated to run part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2027. His racing resume includes winning the 2026 ARCA Menards East Series Championship and the 2025 Trans Am TA2 Series title. JRM CEO Kelley Earnhardt-Miller and Spire co-owner Jeff Dickerson both praised McKee's rapid development and long-term potential.
