Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo "let the team and let me down" during the Dutchman's spell at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that Cristiano Ronaldo let the team and him down during his tenure at Old Trafford. Ten Hag revealed to The Athletic that he had planned around Ronaldo and visited him in Portugal prior to taking the job, but felt let down after having to manage the forward's fitness levels and lack of running on the pitch.
Ronaldo left United by mutual agreement during the 2022-23 season following a critical interview and an incident where he refused to come on as a substitute. Ten Hag also revealed he had targeted signings such as Frenkie de Jong, Harry Kane, and Declan Rice, while opposing Scott McTominay's sale to Napoli.
