Scaling the Rocks: Take me to the Trop

Purple Row's Renee Dechert rounds up the latest Colorado Rockies and Major League Baseball news, highlighting the Tampa Bay Rays defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 to advance to the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Dechert notes that Colorado's analytics department is growing under president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta, moving the franchise away from having MLB's lowest analytics staffing levels.

The roundup covers broader league storylines, including the Athletics hiring Taylor Smith as president of baseball operations and the Baltimore Orioles hiring Jared Banner as general manager. Additional items examine Jack O'Dowd's background, Ryan Spilborghs discussing former Rockies pitching coach Alon Leichman, and Japanese star Teruaki Sato preparing to enter the MLB posting system.
