The New York Jets appear to have pivoted from Jarvis Brownlee Jr. to D'Angelo Ponds after the former's mistake against the Patriots.

The Jet Press writer Mike Luciano suggests the New York Jets could replace nickel cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. with rookie D'Angelo Ponds. The potential change comes after a defensive miscommunication allowed New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to throw a wide-open touchdown to Hunter Henry. Following the breakdown, head coach Aaron Glenn held Brownlee out of the game for the remaining defensive snaps in favor of Ponds.
Luciano notes that Ponds has experienced a difficult start in the NFL, having transitioned from an outside cornerback at Indiana to playing in the slot. Despite Ponds giving up 48 yards and a touchdown across 17 coverage snaps, Luciano argues that Brownlee's coverage mistakes could grant the rookie second-round pick an extended opportunity.
