Man United latest: Carrick told 2 fixtures will decide his future as January plans emerge

Gary Neville stated that upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth and Chelsea will be critical for Michael Carrick's future as Manchester United manager. With United sitting 13th in the Premier League after seven games and winless in six across all competitions, Neville stressed that Carrick must elevate the club toward fifth place before January to avoid serious trouble.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly planning a defensive overhaul in the January transfer window, prioritizing the signings of a left-back and a center-back. These recruitment plans follow internal friction involving Lisandro Martinez and contract uncertainties surrounding veteran defenders Harry Maguire and Martinez.
