The New York Giants are releasing veteran running back Najee Harris just days after he publicly vented frustration over his limited role. Harris voiced irritation following a 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, where he managed only two yards on four carries across 11 snaps. Giants coach John Harbaugh had utilized a four-back rotation, explaining that none of the backs had stepped up to earn a primary workhorse workload.
Harris criticized the rotation system, stating it was difficult to establish a rhythm when being pulled after brief appearances. Harbaugh responded by stating rhythm and snaps must be earned through on-field production. Harris, who joined the Giants in August 2026, totaled 99 rushing yards on 31 carries across five games with the team before his departure, while New York continues searching for a primary back among Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and Cam Skattebo.
