Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield remains uncertain for Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers following a right thumb injury. Mayfield has missed three consecutive games after dislocating his thumb in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Todd Bowles stated that Mayfield is expected to practice on Wednesday, though the team is currently preparing as if backup Jalon Daniels will start.
Mayfield signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension in September but struggled across his first three starts of the season. Daniels has filled in during Mayfield's absence, leading the Buccaneers to an upset win over Dallas despite throwing five interceptions in three starts. The Buccaneers enter Week 7 with a 1-5 record.
