Former referee Keith Hackett gives his verdict on Omar Marmoush’s controversial goal and Coventry’s equalizer in Tottenham’s 3-1 victory.
Former Premier League referee Keith Hackett has defended the officiating team following VAR controversies during Tottenham Hotspur's 3-1 victory over Coventry City. Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Hackett insisted officials made the correct decisions regarding contested goals for both teams, including Omar Marmoush's second-half strike.
Hackett explained that Marmoush's contact with defender Milan van Ewijk before scoring was accidental rather than deliberate, validating the referee's decision to let play continue. He also supported the decision to award Coventry's equalizer by Jack Rudoni, noting that a suspected handball by Brandon Thomas-Asante was non-deliberate.
