The Carolina Panthers are signing running back Anthony "Tre" Tyus III to their active 53-man roster ahead of Week 7. Tyus has emerged as a key contributor on special teams this season, which included recording a partial punt block against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Athletic's Joe Person initially reported the transaction on Tuesday.
The roster move comes after Tyus reached the NFL limit of three standard practice squad elevations. Promoting him permanently allows the Panthers to keep him active for gamedays and prevents other teams from claiming him off their practice squad, adding depth behind Chuba Hubbard and Trevor Etienne.
