Manchester United reportedly submitted a summer transfer enquiry for Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, but the Blues rejected the approach. According to reports, head coach Michael Carrick wanted to bring the 20-year-old to Old Trafford to strengthen his defensive options. Chelsea rebuffed interest from United and several other clubs, considering the young defender untouchable within their squad.
Chelsea are now reportedly preparing to offer Acheampong a long-term contract extension beyond his current deal that runs to 2029. Meanwhile, Manchester United are dealing with significant defensive injury concerns ahead of their upcoming Champions League fixture against Como, with several defenders unavailable.
