Ben Sestanovich, Scott Sharp Candidates For Astros’ GM Job

Royals senior vice president Scott Sharp and Braves assistant general manager Ben Sestanovich have emerged as candidates for the Houston Astros' general manager opening, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. They join other reported candidates, including Matt Kleine, Josh Barfield, and Randy Flores. Houston could reportedly have a new GM in place before the conclusion of the World Series alongside hiring a new field manager following Joe Espada's departure.

Sharp has spent two decades with Kansas City, while Sestanovich joined Atlanta's front office under Alex Anthopoulos in 2019. In addition, the Astros are reportedly hiring Spencer Medick, previously the Triple-A pitching coach for the New York Yankees, as their new director of pitching to oversee pitching development.
