A.J. Brown apologized to Romeo Doubs on Tuesday after an awkward post-touchdown moment in the New England Patriots’ Week 6 win over the Jets left the receiver with a shoulder injury that sent him to injured reserve.
New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown apologized to teammate Romeo Doubs for attempting to hoist him up during a post-touchdown celebration. Doubs suffered a shoulder injury during a 42-yard touchdown catch from Drake Maye in a 26-19 win over the New York Jets and was placed on injured reserve on Monday. Brown stated he was unaware Doubs had been hurt on the play until after he grabbed his shoulder pads.
Doubs will miss at least four games, though ESPN reported the team does not expect a prolonged absence. The injury comes as Brown made his season debut following an ankle injury, catching three passes for 27 yards in the victory. The Patriots next face the Chicago Bears.
