As the Edmonton Oilers held off the Minnesota Wild for a 4-3 overtime win on home ice, McDavid dished out a trio of assists, including his 20th helper of the year on Evan Bouchard’s game-winning goal.

Connor McDavid set an NHL record for the most assists through the first nine games of a season during the Edmonton Oilers' 4-3 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. McDavid recorded three assists on the night, including his 20th helper of the campaign on Evan Bouchard's game-winning overtime goal.
The performance pushed McDavid's league-leading total to 26 points and guided Edmonton to a 7-1-1 start to the 2026-27 season. The 29-year-old superstar's current scoring rate puts him on an early pace to challenge Wayne Gretzky's single-season record of 215 points set in 1985-86.
