The Fourth Period reports that defenseman Scott Mayfield's tenure with the New York Islanders could be nearing its end after frequent healthy scratches. Mayfield, who turned 34 and is in the fourth year of a seven-year contract, has appeared in just two games this season. While he holds a full no-trade clause and has not formally requested a move, potential suitors seeking defensive help reportedly include the Ducks, Kings, Blackhawks, and Kraken.
In injury news around the league, Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell will miss at least one week due to a lower-body injury suffered while blocking a shot against Chicago. Additionally, San Jose Sharks center Alexander Wennberg is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after exiting Monday's matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
