INTERVIEW: Kraaifontein has produced some special rugby talent, with Springbok superstar Cheslin Kolbe among its most celebrated exports.

Kraaifontein-born wing Alichia Arries is continuing her rise with the Springbok Women, drawing motivation from motherhood following the birth of her daughter, Tatum. After debuting in 2021 at age 18, the 24-year-old returned to the national team in May to help South Africa secure their sixth Rugby Africa title before featuring in a major clash against the Black Ferns in September.
Arries, who also represented the Blitzbok Women on the SVNS circuit, encouraged other female athletes not to view pregnancy as a career-ending obstacle. The 12-cap winger is now preparing to face fifth-ranked Ireland at Athlone Stadium, marking the first time her daughter will watch her play in person for the Springboks.
