The Story in 60 Seconds

Gaslamp Ball's Lincoln Zdunich evaluates San Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano, giving him a B+ grade for his 2026 breakout campaign. Zdunich argues that Campusano effectively took over the starting catcher role from Freddy Fermin under manager Craig Stammen, putting together the most successful season of his Major League career.

In 71 games, Campusano posted a .265/.363/.433 slash line with eight home runs and a 122 OPS+. Despite missing two months with a fractured toe suffered in May, he contributed 1.7 WAR and delivered two late-season walk-off hits.
