The Carolina Panthers have been named as a potential trade landing spot for Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen, according to Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame. The Panthers are viewed as likely trade deadline buyers and need cornerback help. Woolen, who signed a one-year, $12 million contract with Philadelphia in free agency, was ranked as the fourth-best candidate to be moved at the deadline.
Parker Hurley notes that Carolina is facing significant depth issues at cornerback, with starters Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson both sidelined on injured reserve. The struggling 2-4 Eagles are projected to be sellers, and Hurley argues that acquiring Woolen for a draft pick would provide Carolina with immediate starting quality and crucial late-season depth.
