DALLAS — Mikko Rantanen scored all three goals for the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, ending it with a power-play backhand at 3:52 of overtime in a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins at American Airlines Center.
Mikko Rantanen recorded a hat trick to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins at American Airlines Center. Rantanen secured the comeback win on a 4-on-3 power play at 3:52 of overtime, lifting a backhand shot past Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman. The victory marked the third consecutive win for the Stars, while snapping a five-game winning streak for Boston.
Matthew Poitras and James Hagens scored the goals for Boston, but Rantanen answered both times to force overtime. Jake Oettinger made 18 saves in net for Dallas, while Swayman stopped 22 of 25 shots. Dallas successfully neutralized all four Bruins power plays and capitalized on a late slashing penalty called against Boston forward Pavel Zacha.
