The Story in 60 Seconds

Mercedes Formula 1 team principal and CEO Toto Wolff revealed on the Cheeky Pint podcast that he is actively vetting candidates to take over his operational responsibilities. Wolff, who joined the team in 2013 and holds a 33 percent ownership stake, indicated that his current role will likely be divided among two or three individuals in the future as he plans for life after serving as team boss.

Wolff noted that a clean break is unlikely due to his family's continued ownership share, suggesting he could transition into an executive or non-executive chairmanship. His current three-year contract extension, signed in 2023, concludes at the end of the 2026 season. Mercedes previously appointed former communications head Bradley Lord as deputy team principal for 2026.
