Muhammad Mokaev says UFC bosses call fighters to warn them about wrestling, then spread narratives that scare off other promoters after releasing them.

Former flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev has accused the UFC of using smear campaigns and creating false narratives that damage fighters' reputations following their departures. Mokaev left the promotion in 2024 despite boasting an undefeated 7-0 Octagon record, and he claimed the promotion also threatens to cut athletes simply for their wrestling-heavy fighting styles.
Mokaev raised these allegations while reacting to the UFC's decision not to re-sign undefeated bantamweight Farid Basharat, who also went 7-0 with the company. Basharat revealed that UFC officials told his team he was considered a boring fighter before opting against offering him a new contract.
