Mikko Rantanen’s overtime heroics and a dominant penalty kill stifled Boston’s deep roster, turning a tense goaltending duel into a dramatic victory for the surging Dallas Stars.

Mikko Rantanen scored a hat trick, including the game-winning power-play goal in overtime, to lift the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. Boston led twice behind goals from Matthew Poitras and James Hagens, but Rantanen answered each time before completing the comeback win in extra time.
Goaltenders Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman staged a tightly contested duel throughout the night. Dallas overcame penalty trouble with a strong penalty-killing unit before capitalising on a Pavel Zacha overtime penalty to secure the two points ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Winnipeg Jets.
