Tottenham Hotspur and the other five Premier League clubs have been asked to help cover the costs of the abandoned European Super League project, which total around €80 million (£67.3 million). According to The Athletic, Real Madrid believe that Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United remain financially liable for setup expenses despite withdrawing five years ago.
The project's expenses have so far been shared between Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus. All 12 original founding clubs signed a shareholders' agreement with a Spain-based holding company, meaning whether English clubs must pay will depend on contract interpretations.
