Jevon Holland can help the Giants limit Houston's deep threats, but a deeper coverage plan would carry a real cost against the run.

Alexander Wilson argues that the New York Giants should keep safety Jevon Holland deeper in coverage to defend against the Houston Texans. With Houston wide receiver Tank Dell expected to return, Wilson recommends showing more two-high safety looks to challenge quarterback C.J. Stroud rather than routinely bringing Holland near the line of scrimmage to boost an undermanned pass rush.
While Holland has recorded three interceptions and forced two fumbles through six games, New York's defense has struggled against the run by allowing 5.0 yards per carry. Wilson notes that defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson faces a trade-off, concluding that the Giants must balance selective pressure with deep coverage based on down-and-distance situations.
