Shakur Stevenson’s decision to split with Zuffa Boxing only months after signing and staging a photo-op with Dana White leaves both the fighter and promotion facing daunting questions.

Unbeaten four-division champion Shakur Stevenson parted ways with Zuffa Boxing prior to fighting under the promotion. Sources close to the situation reported that the split followed prolonged disagreements regarding fighter compensation and matchmaking, notably failed proposals for high-profile bouts against Devin Haney and Manny Pacquiao.
Disagreements over weight limits, rehydration clauses, and eight-figure purse requests stalled negotiations. With no signing bonus paid, Stevenson requested his release, which Zuffa granted. Stevenson plans to launch his own promotional company and look toward potential matchups across 140 pounds and lightweight.
