The Golden State Warriors signed Kristaps Porzingis to an extension this summer that made him immediately eligible to be traded. Figuring out a trade for the absent big man is going to be difficult.
The Golden State Warriors are exploring potential trade options for big man Kristaps Porzingis, but finding a suitable deal will be challenging. Porzingis is sidelined indefinitely due to complications related to postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and is reportedly contemplating retirement. Although his two-year, $40 million contract extension makes him trade-eligible, the uncertainty around his playing future significantly limits his market value.
Sean Keane writes that the Warriors face steep financial and roster obstacles in completing a trade before December 15. Golden State is hard-capped under the second apron with under $350,000 in breathing room, restricting the incoming salaries they can accept. Keane suggests the Warriors might ultimately find the most value in keeping Porzingis' near-expiring deal themselves.
