Aston Villa: Vote on Olabe as director, and an exciting transfer route

Vitória Guimarães will hold an Extraordinary General Assembly on October 30 to vote on adding Aston Villa sporting director Roberto Olabe and director Bashir Lebada to their board. The assembly will also discuss transferring a 17% stake back to Aston Villa owners V Sports. Olabe is slated to work alongside Vitória sporting director Fernando Meira to oversee development.

Sport Witness reports that the strengthening partnership could serve as an effective pathway to funnel South American recruits toward Aston Villa. While former Vitória presidential candidate Belmiro Pinto dos Santos criticized the arrangement as turning the Portuguese side into a feeder club, three of the five board seats will remain with the existing club shares.
