The former Newcastle captain has lifted the lid on the emotional scenes around his exit…

Bruno Guimaraes has revealed the emotional toll behind his decision to leave Newcastle United for Arsenal in a £75 million permanent transfer in July. Speaking after Arsenal's 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich, the Brazilian midfielder admitted to enduring sleepless nights and tears when saying farewell to former manager Eddie Howe and his teammates after five years at St James' Park.
Guimaraes explained that he sought a new challenge after helping Newcastle win the 2025 Carabao Cup and qualifying twice for the Champions League. While acknowledging it was painful to leave the affection of the Newcastle supporters, the 28-year-old emphasized that he is now focused on giving his best for Arsenal ahead of a scheduled return to St James' Park on November 21.
