The New York Giants had a decision to make as far as the starting quarterback goes, but it looks like it will be JJ McCarthy. McCarthy replaced Jameis Winston in the Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints, and…
The New York Giants reportedly plan to start quarterback JJ McCarthy in their Week 7 matchup against the Houston Texans. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the decision following the benching of starter Jameis Winston during the Giants' 34-27 Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints. McCarthy stepped in during that game, passing for 243 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.
New York previously acquired McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in late September for a fifth-round pick after Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending injury. Despite Winston initially holding the starting role under head coach John Harbaugh, McCarthy helped lead a 17-point fourth-quarter rally in relief. The 3-2-1 Giants now prepare to start the former Michigan quarterback on Sunday in Houston.
