Counting down the teams with the top 20 rookie classes of the 30-team era.

Baseball America ranked the most productive MLB rookie classes since 1998 using FanGraphs WAR metrics. The 2006 Florida Marlins topped the list with 17.6 WAR, driven by NL Rookie of the Year Hanley Ramírez, Dan Uggla, and Josh Johnson. The 2012 Oakland Athletics ranked second with 16.5 WAR, setting an era record with 843 innings pitched by rookie arms led by Yoenis Céspedes and Jarrod Parker.
The analysis also highlighted prominent recent groups, including the 2026 Mets, White Sox, and Guardians among the top historic classes. Notable individual performances include Aaron Judge powering the 2017 Yankees' 11.7 WAR total and Kris Bryant leading the 2015 Cubs class that eventually captured the 2016 World Series.
