Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones advised rookie teammate Ashton Gillotte not to argue with officials following a controversial roughing the passer penalty against Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. Gillotte was flagged during Kansas City's 22-6 victory in Week 6, despite replays showing him attempting to pull up after Herbert released a pass that was intercepted by Christian Roland-Wallace.
Jones claimed Herbert flopped on the play and suggested the NFL should adopt review mechanisms similar to the NBA to penalize quarterback flopping. Former NFL referee Gene Steratore also questioned the penalty on the broadcast. Jones was later flagged for roughing the passer himself on Herbert during the fourth quarter.
